As we announced a few weeks ago, we’ve signed a deal with Fantasy Productions to start mining their entire catalog. We are very excited to announce our second release from their collection of masters. In 1974, they put out their first film outside of the adult genre. The film was a blaxploitation film called ‘Mad Dog’s Hustle‘. It was a total flop that almost ended the company. Mort Rosen, son of Fantasy’s founder, Sal Rosen said “By the time my dad finished producing the film, he literally didn’t have any money left to promote or market it. It was in and out of theaters in a matter of weeks. In fact, you could probably count on one hand the theaters it was in. It seriously almost put us on the streets.” Despite the film’s commercial failure, it happens to have an incredible soundtrack. The music is true to the genre, yet very unique from other popular blaxploitation albums. Don’t take our word for it though. Stay tuned as we will be releasing a series of promo videos full audio samples from the album. Below is a link to the first one.
